1. Jezzine Barracks and Kissing Point Fort Complex
This park commemorates both the military and Aboriginal heritage of the Kissing Point headland, including restoration of some of the fort and many public artworks. You can learn about the military events that have played a major part in the Townsville area, as well as those men and women who were involved. The Bio-Ethnic Walk is a fantastic and beautiful walk with impressive signage and information.

2. The Strand and Rock Pool
A trip to Townsville is certainly made even more enjoyable with a stroll along two "The Strand" at the beachfront. There are several playgrounds for the kids, a water park (currently under re-construction) and plenty of grass to sit and enjoy the views. The beautifully designed Promenade is close to the CBD and offers an incredible choice of accommodation, eating and entertainment options. 3. Heritage Trails
Townsville is a lovely city, with a celebration of their heritage demonstrated through beautifully restored historical buildings, and some wonderful monuments around town. Stopping in at the information centre, you can pick up some brochures for several self-guided walks around the town, which showcase the historic architecture, help you learn more about the history of Townsville, and hear the stories of local people. You can walk or ride these Heritage Trails.
4. Castle Hill Lookout
There is a reason why everyone says, ‘you have to go up to the lookout in Townsville’, and that reason is because it is spectacular! You will enjoy 360 degree views of Townsville and surrounding areas, including the stunning Magnetic Island. It is popular as well for running and walking enthusiasts, so if you want to challenge yourself, take a hike instead of driving up to the top!

Magnetic Island
Only 20 minutes ferry ride from Townsville, Magnetic Island is an excellent option to get your island escape fix while exploring Townsville. With self-guided snorkeling trails, walking tracks, coral reefs, beautiful wildlife, and plenty of beaches for swimming.
Museum of Tropical Queensland

Reef HQ
The Great Barrier Reef Aquarium, located near the Townsville CBD and Magnetic Island Ferry terminal, is a great way to learn more about the Great Barrier Reef, see some coral reefs up close in the viewing tunnel, and meet some of the local inhabitants – from the smallest seahorses and fish, to some of the largest, including predatory sharks! While this attraction is great fun for kids, there is plenty here for adults as well, with guided tours, a visit to the Turtle Hospital, and some interesting and informative displays to help you learn more about the importance of the Great Barrier Reef ecosystem.
